About the company

SUBLIMA CZ, s.r.o., is one of the major woodworking companies on the Czech market. We produce wood pellets, poles, palisades and posts. We carry out pressure wood preservation. Our production generates waste sawdust, shavings and bark. These components are used as ecological fuel, for the production of wood pellets and for other ecological energy uses.

Company history

In the spring of 1932 the joint stock company SUBLIMA was founded with a share capital of CZK 5,100,000, of which the Czechoslovak State subscribed CZK 2,600,000. At the time this semi-state form of enterprise, a replacement industry for the state mines in Příbram, proved to be a very lucky choice.

With the establishment of the SUBLIMA preservation plant in Březnice, the unique invention of architect Karel Bubla, consisting in the preservation of wood with sublimate, was used. It was also an opportunity to employ many miners who lost their jobs when silver and lead mining in the Příbram mines was reduced. Sublimate, according to the invention of architect Bubla, is the substance that gives the name to the company SUBLIMA, but the site of the 1932 preservation station now houses a new preservation plant that uses other preserving substances to protect the wood.

Since its establishment SUBLIMA has undergone many organisational changes caused by the new ownership and the territorial affiliation of Březnice to different regions. In 2011 the energy company KOMTERM acquired a 100% business share in it and built a modern pelleting line on the site for production of wood pellets. In 2021 the company changed ownership when it was purchased by LST PROPERTY s.r.o. During 2022, due to a massive increase in the price of heat, the company was forced to discontinue pressure wood preservation with WEI B oil.

Despite the changes in its organisation, legal forms and owners, SUBLIMA has retained its name, and its exceptional status, and has grown from the eleven hectares it had at its inception to almost three times its size.
